In our growing efforts to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, Parkway Shenton is now offering endocrinology services at our clinic(s).

Our General Practitioners (GP) have received training in endocrinology and are able to see less complex cases, allowing smooth transition and reducing unnecessary referrals resulting in

Common conditions seen at the GP include:

  • type 2 diabetes of any severity
  • abnormal thyroid function
  • thyroid nodules <1cm
  • workup for young hypertension/ secondary causes of hypertension
  • male hypogonadism
  • abnormal sodium, calcium and potassium levels

Common treatments offered at the GP include:

  • insulin treatment
  • testosterone replacement therapy

Dr Chng is a general practitioner and the medical director of Parkway Shenton Pte Ltd. He graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed Basic Specialist training in internal medicine. After achieving membership to the Royal College of Physicians in Glasgow (UK), he worked as a registrar in the Department of Endocrinology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He obtained a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Medicine in 2016.

Dr Chng is interested in research and teaching. He was appointed clinical tutor in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) from 2010 - 2014; and is currently a tutor for Duke NUS Medical School since 2017. He is also a designated medical examiner for Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

When will the GP refer you to the specialist?

  • When the diagnosis is in doubt.
  • When response to treatment is not to expectations
  • For more complicated conditions like type 1 diabetes, thyroid nodules equal or more than 1cm, adrenal nodules, pituitary nodules and endocrine tumours.

Our GPs are in close contact with our Specialist Advisory Panel of doctors whom we will refer to depending on your condition.
